Accused of "Union Busting," the UAW allegedly fired a union staffer for fighting for their union
"UAW Staff United Fight Retaliation By UAW Management"

The United Auto Workers (UAW) is being accused of firing a union staffer “in response to their public organizing and leadership in the union (the UAW Staff United)”—a union within the UAW.
In 2023, despite alleged attempts by the UAW Staff Council to interfere with their efforts to unionize with the UAW Staff United, a group of union organizers and other employees employed by the UAW at four different union locals, as well as a UAW region, successfully unionized.
However, more than a year later, the relations between the UAW and UAW Staff United appear to be very strained.
Not only is there no contract between the UAW and the UAW Staff United after more than a year, but according to social media posts, Alex Chan, a leader of the UAW Staff United, was fired last week over her activities on behalf of the UAW Staff United.
While unfair labor practice charges have been filed by the union against the UAW, they have not appeared on the National Labor Relations Board’s website yet.
Like the National Education Association—the nation’s largest union—which locked out its unionized staffers earlier this summer, as well as the Service Employees International Union affiliates that engage in “union busting” when their own staffs try to unionize, some may begin to wonder whether certain unions can live up to their own union values.
