Ahead of a House Subcommittee hearing later this month, the Fairfax County Parents Association has published text messages between then-Center for Disease Control (CDC) director Rochelle Walensky and two presidents of the nation’s largest teachers’ unions—AFT’s Randi Weingarten and NEA’s Beck Pringle—that show a ‘close collaboration’ between the CDC director and teachers unions honchos ‘prior to the CDC's 2021 school reopening guidance.’
Although emails between CDC’s Walensky and the AFT’s Weingarten were revealed in 2021, the text messages posted Friday between the CDC’s Walensky and the two union presidents were obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and reveal an extraordinary amount of familiarity and cooperation between not only AFT’s Weingarten, but NEA’s Pringle as well.
On Friday, the Fairfax County Parents Association posted to its twitter page screenshots as well as a transcript of the 2021 text messages between then-CDC director Walensky and Weingarten (AFT) and Pringle (NEA).
