CWA Accuses National Audubon Society's Negotiator of Disrespecting and Discriminating against LGBTQ+ Employees
The Audubon Society's negotiator is accused of disregarding union proposals to "ensure equity and respect in the workplace and making light of preferred pronouns”
An unnamed outside negotiator for the National Audubon Society, which was founded in 1896 to protect waterbird populations, is being accused by the Communications Workers of America (CWA) of disrespecting and discriminating against Audubon’s LGBTQ+ employees by “disregarding their proposals to ensure equity and respect in the workplace and making light of preferred pronouns” as the union negotiates its first contract, according to the CWA.
The CWA and the Audubon Society have been negotiating for a first contract since late last year after eligible staff voted to unionize with the CWA by a 90-14 margin.
