House Committee Asks Acting NLRB GC For Update On Abruzzo Policies vs. "Where Legislative Action May Be Needed"

On Monday, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), Chairman of the House Committee on Education & Workforce, sent a letter to Acting National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel William Cowan, following Cowan’s rescission of certain of his predecessor’s memos on February 14th, asking for an update as to where certain Biden-NLRB initiatives stand, and where “legislative action may be needed.”
“Your efforts to restore stability to the NLRB are clearly a step in the right direction,” Walberg wrote. “However, the Committee is concerned about the lingering effects of some of these memoranda and the way Ms. Abruzzo ran her office.”
Accordingly, the Committee asks for your assistance in determining where legislative action may be needed to ensure that the NLRB maintains stability in its case management. Specifically, the Committee requests:
A list of NLRA Section 10(j) injunction petitions approved by the Board at the request of the Office of the General Counsel while under the leadership of Ms. Abruzzo where a Board Member dissented.
An operational review of all settlements involving the NLRB Regions or the Office of the General Counsel that were rejected, significantly delayed, or adversely impacted by the issuance of Memorandum GC 25-02 by Ms. Abruzzo on November 26, 2024.
