ICYMI: The UAW Says It's Signed A Majority of VW Employees In Chattanooga
Bloomberg is reporting that the United Auto Workers (UAW) has stated it has a majority of employee signatures at Volkswagen AG’s plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The announcement comes two months after the union claimed it had achieved a thirty percent threshhold with the VW workforce.
“Under US law, a company can voluntarily recognize and negotiate with a union once a majority of workers have signed union cards, or can refuse to do so unless the group first wins a government-run election,” Bloomberg reported. “The UAW has said it will seek recognition once it has 70% of a plant signed up.”
