In "Kamala Mode"—1199SEIU-NUHW Boss Allegedly Refuses To Bargain With Union Staff Until After The 2024 Elections
"To put it simply, 'Kamala Mode' is not a valid reason to delay negotiations."

The president of the healthcare union 1199SEIU-NUHW, George Gresham, is being accused of delaying negotiations with his newly-unionized staff until after the November 2024 general elections.
After withstanding an “aggressive union-busting campaign” by union management, union staffers at one of the nation’s largest healthcare unions, 199SEIU-NUHW, more than 82 percent voted to unionize in early June.
“Section 8(a)(5) of the Act makes it an unfair labor practice for an employer "to refuse to bargain collectively with the representatives of its employees, subject to the provisions of Section 9(a)" of the Act.” — National Labor Relations Board
However, despite being legally required to negotiate with its newly-unionized staff, union management is now accused of stalling going to the bargaining table until after the November elections.
According to the 1199 IHS Guild on X (formerly Twitter), the union had “demanded” bargaining dates from 1199SEIU-NUHW President George Gresham in August.
However, according to the union, Gresham used the upcoming elections in November to delay bargaining.
When asked to clarify if union president Gresham was referring to the upcoming general elections in November, the union responded:
“Yes @WorkPlaceRpt, you read right. Gresham's excuse for not bargaining with his own staff is that 1199SEIU is in ‘Kamala Mode’ until after the election. As union staff, we know these delay tactics all too well, and it is still Gresham's legal obligation to bargain in good faith.”
If Gresham and his union refuse to bargain with the staffers’ union, it could be deemed unlawful by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
