Non-unionized UAW organizers and other employees petition to unionize
The UAW could still voluntarily recognize the unions, or it may contest the appropriateness of the voting unit.
On Friday, a group of union organizers and other employees employed by the United Auto Workers at four different union locals, as well as a UAW region, filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) for a secret-ballot election.
As union organizers are persons employed by unions to convince workers on the benefits of unionization, some may find it ironic that the UAW employs non-unionized union organizers to begin with.
The union listed as the petitioner is UAW Staff United, which does not appear to have any profiles on the internet, nor does it appear to be registered with the U.S. Department of Labor. This may mean, however, that it is an offshoot of a larger national union.
