Starbucks Workers United—an affiliate of the Service Employees International Union—has expanded its campaign to North and South Carolina, according to a series of tweets by the union on Tuesday evening.
According to the union, there are now 88 89 stores where the union has filed petitions with the National Labor Relations Board to have secret-ballot elections.
While the number of stores only represents roughly one percent of the nearly 9,000 company-owned stores in the United States, the sheer number of individual campaigns the union has been able to launch in a relatively short period of time has come at “impressive speed” noted the socialist publican the Jacobin two weeks ago.
